Barbie is the most popular fashion doll in the history of the world and has been since its introduction in 1959. I first started working with Barbie in 1985 in Mattel's Samples Department. In 1988 I began writing toy fair scripts, videos, marketing skits, custom songs and other creative for Barbie at Mattel. My first email address was mrbarbie@aol.com and you can still reach me there.

Bob Mackie’s very first fashion creation for Mattel came in 1990 with the Bob Mackie Barbie #5405. This was his limited edition “Gold” Barbie, with a long blond ponytail, a midriff-bearing top, a cascading skirt of golden sequins and a feathery boa. That the doll seemed to prefigure Madonna’s nearly identical look on tour shortly after only confirmed Mackie’s uncanny feel for the zeitgeist.

This toy is part of my personal collection and has been archived by me, Joe Galliani, the creator of the Street Sharks, and President of Mr. Joe's Really Big Productions for over two decades in my home's attic.

The package in this case is the shipping carton and it is in good shape. It will be shipped to you in this carton unless you contact me to arrange to have it shipped in a larger carton. The Bob Mackie doll inside was only removed for these photographs and the contents are in visually perfect condition. The feather boa is in its original unopened plastic bag. Please note that the round base for the doll stand is missing. Photos are of this specific toy for sale. Please review carefully and thoroughly as all sales are final and no refunds will be issued.
